If it has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix problems, add new functions, or expand existing ones. Any/all help you have to offer here would be much appreciated.This package contains the files needed for installing the Audio driver. My hunch is that this is an issue with the sound drivers.
I've tried rolling back my driver and/or re-updating my driver, and I've also tried "uninstalling" it from the device manager and restarting my computer none of these things have helped to solve the issue. I have run the "Troubleshooter" on my microphone, but Windows tells me that there are no problems with it. I own some headphones with a microphone built in, and when I connect those to my computer I get the exact same issue. I do have things configured both in Windows 10 Settings and in the settings for each of those apps so that they have permission to use my microphone. Under the "Microphone Properties", I have volume set to 100 (not muted) and Microphone Boost set to +36.0 dB (I have tried the lower levels too). That is to say, if I use any other app such as Zoom, Camera, Voice Recorder, or websites on Chrome which make use of the microphone, then no audio gets recorded at all and the people on the other end cannot hear anything from me. (So, I'm confident there are no issues with my computer's hardware!)Įverywhere outside of MS Teams & Cortana, even though my computer is supposedly "picking up" the audio, it's not "receiving" it.
When I go to Control Panel→Manage Audio Devices, it also clearly indicates there that it is picking up sound. In Settings→System→Sound, the "Test Your Microphone" bar also clearly registers that it is receiving sound. Speech recognition with Cortana also works fine. When I'm using Microsoft Teams, there are no issues at all, and everything works normally. One night a few months ago, my computer might have downloaded some sort of updates and restarted itself (I'm not sure, honestly) and ever since that night I have been having microphone issues. I'm running Windows 10 version 21H1 on an ASUS TP501UA laptop, and my microphone is using the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver version 8.66.95.70.
